Representing and advising insurers and clients to resolve claims as quickly, efficiently and fairly as possible.
Ron was looking for a career that would keep him motivated and challenged on a daily basis. This is what attracted him to law and inspired him to build a career in the field. He started out working on unique insurance defense cases and built on his knowledge over the years. After practicing almost exclusively in Insurance Law for over 25 years, Ron has become a go-to person in the firm for questions regarding the interpretation of Commercial General Liability policies, Section B and Section D automobile insurance issues, and issues that are "out of the ordinary".
Insurance Law allows Ron to work with clients to resolve complicated matters and complex legal issues. The complexity and challenges are what keep him interested and motivated and he is keen to share his knowledge and experience with colleagues, clients, students and new lawyers. Ron frequently makes presentations to his peers at continuing legal education seminars, to new lawyers at the Law Society Bar Admission courses, as well as to insurance clients. Presenting allows him to remain current on developments in the law and to contribute to the profession.
Throughout his career, Ron has had the opportunity and privilege to appear before the Trial Division and Court of Appeal of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, as well as before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ron studies matters in depth; he is detailed and comprehensive, with a nice dry sense of humour. He will tell you he is someone who has a hard time taking off his "lawyer hat", although he has been known to enjoy volunteering for the Codiac Storm Lacrosse Association and supporting his kids in their activities of choice.
